About Our Pastor
God promises that he will send Shepherd/Pastors who model intelligence and wisdom in the
leadership of God’s people. Agape believes that its Pastor, Roland M. Porter, possesses and demonstrates those qualities.
Pastor Porter is a graduate of Lane College, Jackson, TN, and he received his Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, CA. He received his Seminary training at Golden Gate Seminary, Mill Valley, CA. He has served as a University Professor, Entrepreneur, Advisor, Board member and Encourager to untold numbers of students, business developers, profit and non-profit business managers and others. He has made his talents available to individuals and organizations whose goal is to improve the standard of living for those whose lives they touch. Agape’s Pastor believes that the implementation of the Biblical model for the distribution of available goods and services is a New Testament Church requirement, and that this must occur through hearts and hands dedicated to justice and righteousness. He preaches that "not everything that comes to you is for you," meaning that oftentimes we Christians are chosen as interim blessing recipients whose task is to deliver the blessing to its ultimate recipient.
Agape’s Pastor accepts and teaches the New Testament example of team leadership of the Church, and God has provided Agape with a highly gifted leadership team whose duty is to be proactive in expanding the Kingdom. As a part of that pro-activeness, the Leadership team lives out the Biblical application of the "one another s." Pastor, the Agape leadership team, and the entire church membership practice, caring for one another, loving one another, building up one another, comforting one another, correcting one another, forgiving one another and rejoicing and weeping with one another. Under Pastor’s hands-on leadership style, Agape is a happy, well cared for, growing family.
