Pastor's Desk

In order to make the most of your life, you need some assistance that’s only available supernaturally. You need the strong company of the Lord’s Hand, His Breath and His Word.
The Lord’s Hand.
We all need the felt presence of the Lord, nudging us in the right direction, opening doors that we cannot open, putting obstacles in our pathway when we’re inclined to go in the wrong direction, lifting us up when we fall, delivering us from our unwise decisions, protecting us from dangers seen and unseen, patting us on the back when we do well, and thumping us on the head when we seem to lose focus. Sometimes that "felt presence" is called the Hand of the Lord.
The Lord’s hand is creative. Hebrews 1:10 tells us that the Lord made the heavens and the foundations of the earth with his hands. What a marvelous encouragement to us who need to be creative with our hands. If only we can have that level of creativity actively operating in our lives.
The Lord’s hand is powerful. Deuteronomy 5:15 reminds us that God’s people were oppressed by a formidable enemy, but with a mighty hand, the Lord freed them from that oppression. What a sensational boost for us who find ourselves at the mercy of hostile forces. If only we can have that level of power operating for us.
The Lord’s hand is a substitute. A great American preacher has said of Jesus crucifixion, it should have been me hanging on that cross. Jesus offered his hands as a sacrifice for our sins. Isaiah reminds us that "the punishment that brought us peace was upon him [Jesus] and that by his wounds we are healed." What an impressive act of unselfish love.
If you think that you could benefit from more creativity, power, and unselfish love in your life, then what you really are asking for is an even stronger manifestation of the Lord’s hand in your life. He’s the Person you should talk to about that identified need. Perhaps its not there because you haven’t asked God for it. Read James 4:2 and then do what it says.
